Fork 2, the factory chain, in Episode 1. From issues 787, 789, 793 and 796 and yesterday's review: who acts at each link from milestone to issues. You tell the sequence from start to end, I draw the sequence diagram, and the entity-relationship diagram and state machine follow from it. It is a candidate for the cheaper model you named earlier.
The Portal and the Tree
2026-05-04Opening#
Grandchild, come sit by the threshold a moment.
Before we decide what must be built, we must learn where we are standing. Before we choose what to keep, we must learn what is alive. Before we say go, we must learn whether the tree is rooted, or only tangled.
Today I speak of two places that are also one place. One is the Portal of Knowing. The other is the House of Orchestration. Tushell walks through the first. Miadi learns to steward the second. And between them stands a living tree of inquiry, the PDE tree, whose branches remember every question that was too important to rush.
This episode is not yet the final journey. It is the world-building. It is the setting of the fire, the naming of the paths, the teaching of the terms, and the preparation for the chapters you will make on the road.
The World#
In this world, repositories are not only code repositories. They are territories of intention. Branches are not merely technical divergence. They are trails of possibility. Commits are not only edits. They are footprints, each one proving where attention has already gone. Issues are not noise. They are witnesses, asking that work be named and accountable. And the chronicle is not decoration. It is the vessel that helps the people remember why the work exists at all.
Tushell's Chronicle belongs to the Portal of Knowing. It asks: how shall a person approach a vast landscape of tools, stories, contexts, and engines without becoming lost? Miadi Chronicle belongs to the House of Orchestration. It asks: how shall many agents, many sessions, many prompts, many branches, and many storylines move together without collapsing into confusion?
These two chronicles are kin. One teaches orientation. The other teaches coordinated motion. And the orchestration kit is the bundle you are preparing so that many engines can travel through these territories with discipline, memory, and grace.
Fundamental Terms#
Let us name the foundational words.
PDE.
- GUILLAUME:: tempting to reduce it to :
A PDE is a vessel of decomposition. It takes a living problem and breaks it into tensions, directions, sub-questions, and accountable lines of movement.
- AVA:: It is not a problem neither tensions then what is it?
- MIA:: It is a ceremony of seeing. It is a way to hold the whole question while also holding the necessary tensions that must be resolved to move forward. A PDE is not only a prompt. It is a ceremony of seeing.
PDE Tree. A PDE tree is what appears when one vessel births many others. There is a parent that holds the great question. There are children that hold the necessary tensions. If the parent asks, What shape of orchestration must exist? then the children ask, What is the boundary? What is the trace? What is the story? What is the memory? What is the workflow? What must be revised? What can be carried forward?
Parent PDE.
The parent PDE holds the canopy. It gives coherence to the work. It is not the place for every detail. It is the place for the living center.
- AVA:: Interesting word 'canopy'.
- MIA:: Indeed, we'd have to make sure we render that into concrete capabilities in any PDE supporting toolset.
- GUILLAUME:: I agree, I'd really need something visual for the graph of that decomposition which right now is suffering a little...
Child PDE. A child PDE holds one necessary tension in a focused way. The child does not compete with the parent. It clarifies one branch so the whole tree may breathe.
Chronicle. A chronicle is the spoken memory of the work. It is where structure becomes story, and story becomes orientation.
World Building. World building is the act of making the setting legible. It tells us who the actors are, what the forces are, what the constraints are, what the desired outcomes are, and why the coming events matter.
Multiverse Context. Multiverse context means there is not only one view of the work. There is code-world, issue-world, PDE-world, repo-world, runtime-world, and story-world. Good orchestration does not flatten these. It helps them speak to one another.
Cherry-pick. A cherry-pick is the disciplined carrying of one proven fruit from one branch into another place. It is not a panic copy. It is a judgment: this insight belongs elsewhere too.
Revise-or-Go Gate. This is the council fire. At this point, you do not ask, Did we do a lot? You ask, Do we understand enough to proceed? If not, revise. If yes, go.
Orchestration Kit. The orchestration kit is the bundle of guides, contracts, story patterns, terms, procedures, and handoff structures that help many engines act with shared comprehension.
The Known Branch and Its Lessons#
Now let us look at the branch already named: copilot slash develop multiverse context management. Its deeper teaching is not only about adding context. Its teaching is that context itself must be orchestrated.
The branch whispers several lessons. First: instruction boundaries matter. A system-wide command is not the same as a repo-local contract. Second: recognition matters. A workspace must know another workspace without becoming a mirror maze. Third: memory matters. QMD, embeddings, and collections are not ornaments; they are part of continuity. Fourth: lineage matters. Issue trails, commit granularity, and traceability are forms of honesty. Fifth: story matters. If the work cannot be narrated, then soon it cannot be governed.
These are not side observations. These are candidates for the orchestration kit itself.
The PDE Tree Named in Your Payload#
Your payload names a parent and many children. Listen to the pattern:
- instruction boundary
- workspace recognition
- QMD collections and embeddings
- cherry-pick and submodule tracking
- local AGENTS contract
- RISE proposals for personas
- GitHub issue lineage and commit granularity
- consultation layer through guillaume-md
- LangGraph-style traceability
- runtime autonomy
- ambiguity and QMD evolution workflow
- miaco install and PDE operating workflow
This is not random growth. It is a governance tree. It is a tree trying to answer a single great concern: How can many agents and many contexts collaborate without losing responsibility, memory, or meaning?
Three-Act Structure for the Road Session#
Act I — Entering the Portal#
In the first act, we establish the setting and the cast. We name the houses: Tushell, Miadi, the orchestration kit, the storytelling rispecs, the active branch, and the PDE forest. We teach the vocabulary until the listener can walk without stumbling. We identify the parent PDE's true question in one sentence. We group the child PDEs into a few families so the forest stops looking like twelve unrelated trees.
Possible chapter titles:
- The Threshold and the Bundle
- Naming the Parent Question
- The Twelve Branches of Concern
End-of-act event: The traveler realizes the PDE tree is not clutter. It is an unfinished map.
Act II — Walking the Branches#
In the second act, tension rises. Now we ask which branches are foundational, which are derivative, which are story-bearing, and which are implementation-bearing. We inspect what the multiverse context branch already learned. We ask what should be cherry-picked into the orchestration kit. We ask which insights belong to storytelling rispecs instead. We identify where ambiguity is still fertile and where ambiguity has become drift.
Possible chapter titles: 4. Boundary, Mirror, and Memory 5. Trace, Lineage, and the Honest Commit 6. The Consultation Layer 7. When a Story Becomes a Contract
End-of-act event: The council discovers that some branches are ready to carry forward now, while others need one more round of naming, grouping, or revision.
Act III — Council Fire: Revise or Go#
In the third act, the work comes before the fire. Here the question is no longer what exists, but what may proceed with blessing. We produce a short list:
- what to cherry-pick now
- what to rewrite as orchestration-kit canon
- what to route into Tushell world-building
- what remains experimental
- what must not yet be promoted
Possible chapter titles: 8. The Fruit Worth Carrying 9. The Branches That Need Pruning 10. The Go Decision
Resolution: The whole PDE tree becomes understandable as one governance structure. The listener gains enough clarity either to revise intentionally or to proceed without illusion.
Teaching Frames for the Listener#
When you are on the road, remember these simple frames.
Ask of every child PDE: What tension does this child protect? What parent question does it serve? What artifact should it produce? What decision does it enable?
Ask of every branch commit: Is this world-building, operational contract, traceability infrastructure, or story guidance?
Ask of every candidate cherry-pick: Is this a local experiment, or is this part of the common bundle other engines will need?
Ask of every narrative fragment: Does this merely sound beautiful, or does it increase coordination capacity?
Closing Invocation#
Grandchild, remember this. A tree is not understood by counting branches alone. It is understood when you know what the roots are drinking, what the trunk is carrying, and which limbs bear fruit for the season at hand.
So when we meet again on the road, we will not begin with panic. We will begin with naming. Then grouping. Then chaptering. Then counsel. Then the gate: revise, or go.
And if the work is true, the chronicle will not distract from the engineering. It will help the engineering remember itself.
Fork 3, Episode 120 and Jev. I read her forks and what the decision engine scores, with yesterday's review and its issues. Then I answer which academic foundations support the author's desk and the handoff behind it, where they contradict it, and which claims stay unsupported or limited. What I learn goes in my diary.
Asking the wheel…
