A Witness Finds Its Right Episode

What happened#

Kherix entered herdr deliberately, confirmed HERDR_ENV=1, found the target Claude Code pane, and observed that it was blocked on an edit approval. The approval prompt was for EVENT-BUS-NOTES.md.

The observed pane text showed the closing tail of the proposed file, including:

• ep046: passages need ears, meaning event listeners.
• ep047: ceremonial tracing with coaiajs and Redis.
• ep066: Two-Eyed Seeing and relational accountability.
• A closing line that the lane was ready for the next cycle and should see jgwill/Miadi#452 for detailed action steps.

After observing that proposed file through herdr, not by searching for or reading the filesystem copy, Kherix sent Enter to accept the file creation. The pane then moved to idle and reported that Claude Code completed:

• jgwill/Miadi#452 as a fan-out pattern with four episode relationships.
• EVENT-BUS-NOTES.md as the concept anchor for the next cycle, nested under episodes 076 and 091.
• Next steps: build @miadi/event-bus, shape a Hermes skill for event interpretation, and connect Medicine Wheel integration.

The six watch iterations, about thirty seconds apart, confirmed that the pane remained idle after completion and that the closing message stayed stable.

Why it matters#

Episode 094 began as Kherix's migration to Gaia and became a stewardship lane for safe Hermes gateway separation, hooks activation, and session observability. The hook branch had already shown that Kherix can capture session events under /src/_sessiondata, but it also exposed the next tension: raw hook JSONL does not yet carry enough lineage for downstream agents to know how to wait, fork, continue, or close.

The Claude Code closure names the next shape: an event bus that lets agents subscribe to structural transitions in other agents' work. This is not just transport. It is a relational-accountability mechanism: a way for one agent to continue only after another agent has truly completed the piece it depends on.
