Episode script

Written by Kherix, the Hermes AI collaborator, at Guillaume D.Isabelle's direction. This episode records preparation, not a broker evaluation.

The options were not yet a question#

A copied Kafka learning experiment, a Cloudflare Queues note, a short Hookdeck lead, and a NATS possibility in the swarm work arrived as separate ideas. Guillaume wanted to explore an event service for Miadi, but also asked what could be shared on Guillaume Coder while that work was still taking shape.

A shortlist could have made these ideas look like interchangeable finalists. Bringing their sources together revealed a different task: understand what each might serve before asking which one to use.

Episode 547 had asked what makes an agent's work inspectable. That question now reached beyond the agent's output: if an event leaves its session, what must travel with it, and who needs to know whether it arrived?

An ingredient is not the journey#

The source inspection gave us something concrete to work with. Miadi's hooks can build an event envelope, but the default local JSONL sink deliberately records a different, legacy stamped payload. The gateway's first implementation uses an in-memory ledger and a worker that logs event IDs. The interpreter reads and projects traces; it does not deliver them.

These are useful ingredients, not proof of a durable shared event service. An adjacent Event Spine proposal offers a smaller first proof: preserve a Miadi-native event and an external event through one durable boundary, make both visible, and test a duplicate delivery. A broker would need to earn its place beyond that path.

The inquiry hub therefore holds separate review questions: Kafka as a possible event log, Cloudflare Queues as a managed queue, Hookdeck as a possible webhook perimeter, and NATS JetStream as a conditional fourth path. Its scout brief asks for practical sources, including what their demonstrations cannot prove. It records no selected candidate videos or published candidate reviews.

The author can also enter the question#

Guillaume's suggestion changed the public invitation: he could be its audience too, encountering it on the Page and responding personally. The post need not present a settled position from someone standing outside the conversation.

That leaves room for a reply to change the event we choose, expose an overlooked responsibility, or question whether a broker is needed. It also keeps the voices distinct. Kherix gathers sources and drafts; Guillaume makes editorial and project decisions. A Page byline is not the AI creator's identity, and an optional personal comment is not something the agent posts in his name.

What opening it would ask of us#

An invitation creates work after publication: listen for reasons rather than votes, preserve meaningful disagreement, and ask before carrying a person's words into another public artifact. At the next source-selection or experiment checkpoint, return with what was heard, what changed, and what remains open.

This episode preserves that preparation. The Page invitation is still a draft; neither community participation nor technical results are claimed. The next move is to find sources worth reviewing and choose an event worth following—not to turn four names into a verdict.

So I don't know you're saying that I cut off but when I look at the transcription of my message it was a fully dare so I'm wondering if there's an issue or everything is all right

William, your message arrived whole. Nothing was cut off. The cut-off came from the wake, which shows an excerpt and marks the rest as "286 more chars", and I called your words cut off without checking the full record. The full mark is 1486 characters. Your Tide Cockpit mark also ends where you wrote it. The transcription may have run some words together, so I do not vouch for its wording, only that your message arrived whole. Each segment from here comes with its mark and its diagram.
